About Sharpers House
Sharpers House is a modern, spacious, light detached
holiday house with views from Start Point to Prawle Point. The
house is in a row of former coastguard cottages, and a short walk
takes you to the village green of East Prawle with shop, cafe
and the pub. East Prawle is situated in the South Devon Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty, about 8 miles south of Kingsbridge
and three miles east of Salcombe. It is also a few minutes walk
from the South West Coast Path.
The house has five large bedrooms (two doubles
and a twin on the first floor and one double and a twin on the
ground floor) and a sofa bed in the first floor sitting room.
On the ground floor there is a large kitchen/diner
with Aga cooker, satellite TV and a sitting room, with sliding
windows opening onto the terrace. There is also a ground floor
bathroom. On the first floor there is another kitchen and sitting
room, and also another bathroom. This first floor is available,
during the off-peak season, as a three bedroom flat as an alternative
to renting the whole house.
There are gardens front and back, there is a terraced
patio on the seaward side with panoramic views of the coastline
and terraced gardens to the rear. Sit on the patio or inside and
watch the ships go by, or climb up the garden to the rear for
views over the roof of the house.
You can walk to the nearest beach in a sheltered
bay which is fantastic for rockpooling. To the east along the coast
path takes you to sandy Lannacombe and on to Mattiscombe beach
and Start Point lighthouse, westwards towards Prawle Point past
sandy beaches and on towards Salcombe (via ferry).
There are two single garages and an additional
two extra spaces opposite (an almost unique feature in this area).
The road in front of the house is very, very quiet - just a rough
track that is a dead end so virtually no traffic.
There is a landline telephone as there is no mobile
reception. The house is ideal for a very quiet and relaxing stay,
and for families, walkers and birdwatchers this is a perfect base
for a holiday.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, a small charge may
apply. Duvets and pillows are provided but you will need to bring
bed linen and towels.
